Reliant Air Conditioning is here when your furnace is approaching its last days. If you’re unsure about whether its time for your replacement, take a look at our list below. There are 5 big signs that should tell you it’s time for you to get a furnace replacement from Reliant AC.
Take a look!
1. Age
How old is your system?
The first place to start is to compare the age of your furnace to the national average, which is between 16 and 20 years. If your furnace is close to this age or older, it could be about time for a new one.
2. Gas and Electric Bills
What do your bills look like? Have they increased significantly?
As they age, furnaces often lose their efficiency if they aren’t properly maintained. Your furnace may be running much longer in order to provide the same amount of heat. This causes your gas and electric bills to go up significantly. It’s not always the rising gas and electric prices that are causing your bills to be so high.
3. Recent Repairs
Have you had repairs in the past 2 years?
Like a car, you can replace one part on your furnace only to run into other problems that need to be repaired as it ages. It doesn’t take long to spend hundreds of dollars just to keep it running. In the last two years of their lives, furnaces incur the most breakdowns. Another indication is whether you have to wait to get parts replaced; as a furnace gets older, it gets more difficult to get replacement parts.
4. Strange Noises
Is your furnace making strange noises?
Toward the end of its life, a furnace tends to start making really strange noises; popping, rattling, banging, or squealing noises. If you often hear the furnace blower running excessively or turning on and off frequently, it’s a sign that your furnace needs to be replaced.
5. Discomfort
Is your thermostat not keeping you comfortable?
Are some rooms in your home too hot while others are too cold? If you’re always trying to adjust your thermostat to make your home comfortable, it might be time to replace your furnace. The inconsistent temperature is a sign that your furnace lacks the ability to properly distribute air.
