The Right Thermostat Can Help You Save!

Twenty years ago, it was normal to change your thermostat by rotating a small dial or moving a lever. If you forgot to turn it down before heading to bed or off to work, you probably spent money heating a place when it wasn’t necessary.

Now with a digital thermostat, you can put that cash back in your pocket. So how do I choose the best thermostat for my home? Just like you expect on your electronic devices, a thermostat should be programmable. A typical day might look like this:

  1. Turn on to 68 degrees at 6:30 a.m. so it is comfortable for walking.

  2. Drop to 64 degrees from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when no one is home.

  3. Turn to 68 degrees from 4 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. when everyone is at the house, but dropping the temperature a bit before bedtime.

  4. Drop to an even lower temperature from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. while everyone is asleep

The best thermostat can’t help if you need new furnace installation in Fort Worth. If your unit is more than 15 years old, it may be time to consider a heating replacement. A new heater can save you money simply because it is more energy efficient. If it is working in conjunction with a proper thermostat, you can save even more.
